How to Find a YouTube Niche Opportunity (Free)
Trying to decide what to make videos about? Here's how to check whether a niche idea is actually worth pursuing on YouTube — using real search results, not guesswork.
Steps
- Open Stelluna's YouTube Niche Finder at stelluna.io/youtube-nis-bulucu.
- Type in a niche or keyword idea — something specific works better than something broad (e.g. "budget camping gear" rather than just "camping").
- Click "Analyze." We pull real data from YouTube's top results for that search: channel sizes, view counts, and how recently videos were uploaded.
- Read the Opportunity Score — 70+ means the niche looks genuinely open, 40-69 means you'd want to narrow it further, under 40 means it's likely saturated or dominated by huge channels.

Open YouTube Niche FinderHow is the score calculated?
We look at the top 25 videos currently ranking for your niche idea and compute three signals: competition intensity (how large, on average, the channels ranking for this niche already are — the bigger they are, the harder it is to break in), content saturation (how many videos have been uploaded in the last 30 days and whether those recent uploads are still pulling in views, which tells you if the space is getting crowded or dying down), and a rough CPM potential estimate based on the topic category. These combine into a single 0-100 Opportunity Score, plus a suggested video format based on what tends to work for that kind of content.
This is a directional signal, not a guarantee — a low score doesn't mean "don't make this video," it means the general topic is crowded, so you'd want to find a sharper angle within it.

Is it free?
Yes — no account needed. You get 5 free analyses per day; repeat searches for the same niche within 48 hours are served instantly from cache and don't count against your limit.
Where does the data come from?
Directly from the official YouTube Data API — real search results, view counts, and channel subscriber counts, not estimates.
Does the score account for Google Trends data?
Not yet — the current version scores based on YouTube's own competition and saturation signals plus a CPM estimate. Search-trend data is planned as a future addition.
Can I share a result?
Yes — after analyzing a niche, use the "Share Result" button to copy a link that reopens the exact same result for whoever you send it to.
