If you're only cutting the end (start stays at 0), the video stream is cut directly without any re-encoding — zero quality loss. If you also change the start point, the video is automatically re-encoded at high quality so it can start cleanly at that exact frame.
What format is the output?
The same format as your source video whenever possible (MP4 stays MP4, WEBM stays WEBM) — formats that can't be targeted directly (like AVI) fall back to MP4 (H.264 + AAC).
