Enter an exact width and height in pixels when you have a specific requirement — a profile picture spec, a website upload limit, a print size. Use the percentage buttons (100%, 75%, 50%, 25%) instead when you just want to shrink or enlarge the photo proportionally without hitting a fixed number.

What happens if I turn off "Lock aspect ratio"?
The width and height fields become independent, so you can set any combination you like — but if the new ratio doesn't match the original photo, the image will be stretched or squeezed to fit, not cropped. Leave "Lock aspect ratio" on if you want the image to keep its natural proportions.

Does resizing reduce the image quality?
PNG files are resized without any quality loss. JPG and WEBP files are re-encoded at high quality when saved, so the difference is imperceptible for normal use — though pixels removed when downscaling can't be recovered if you later try to enlarge the image again.
